Camp

Additional Costs

  1. It is advised that an excessive amount of cash NOT be brought to camp.
  2. A Performing Arts Camp T-shirt will be available for purchase during the camp. The cost is $10 per shirt. Many students chose to wear this shirt for the exhibition performance on the final day of camp. It is not required that you purchase a shirt. If chose not to buy a shirt, please bring a white T-shirt (logos are acceptable) to wear on the last day.
  3. Health Service Cost: As of July 1, 1982, Michigan State University instituted a basic service fee for necessary treatment at Olin Health Center. Additional fees will be assessed for other services such as x-rays, etc. Health service is not available on campus at night. Emergency service is provided at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. This is a five-minute drive from the residence hall. Upon receipt of your health form at registration, it will be filed with the form in case treatment is required.

Parking

Parking for commuters is available in Lot #91. This lot is located on the corner of Hagadorn Rd and Service Rd (enter from Service Rd). Parking is free and available for the duration of the camp. The lot is approximately a five-minute walk from the dorm and practice field.

What to Bring

Campers are asked to bring all equipment (flags, poles, batons, maces, specialty equipment, etc.) on which they desire instruction. Michigan State will not provide any equipment. Label items with your name and/or school. It is encouraged that you bring a notebook with a pen or pencil for jotting down ideas and notes during some of the sessions.

The residence hall will supply sheets, pillowcases and towels, but you should bring your own blankets, washcloths, soap, toiletries, etc. Other suggested useful items include: alarm clock, snacks, fans, CD/tape player or small stereo, hat/sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Clothing

We suggest that you bring comfortable clothing and shoes in which to work out (each day will begin with a warm-up that will include a short run and stretching). It may be smart to bring rain gear, as well. Tennis shoes and socks are required. Clogs/sandals are not permitted, since you will be doing a great deal of movement and marching. Bring a jacket or sweatshirt for cooler weather and evenings. Do not forget to bring clothing and gear for recreational and party activities.

Equipment Storage

Lockers for your equipment will not be available, so you will be required to store your equipment in your residence hall rooms. These halls are located within a three-minute walking distance from practice areas.

Laundry and Mail

Laundry facilities are located in the Akers Residence Hall and are available to campers. The cost is $1.50 per load for washers and $0.25 for dryers.

All mail should be addressed to you in care of PERFORMING ARTS AUXILIARY CAMP (AKERS HALL), MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY, EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN 48824.

Attendence

Your attendance is mandatory at all camp activities. Unexcused absences will be reported to school officials and parents following the conclusion of camp.
